Man is a very creative being and has been from the ancient times. We have several man made wonders of the world ever since although some of these do not exist now. Some were destroyed by natural causes like earthquakes, other causes like fire and an angry mob. For those that still exist, they have been great tourist attractions in different countries and other modern man made wonders are still coming up.

10. Parthenon, Acropolis
This is a temple that is very famous and if one pays a visit to Athens, without visiting the Parthenon temple then that visit is not complete. The construction of the famous temple started in 447 BC and was completed in 432 BC. This temple replaced the older one that was destroyed by the Persians. The main purpose of constructing this temple was to house a statue of Athena Parthenos that was s made of ivory, Gold and silver. The temple also served as a church, a fortress, a mosque and also a powder magazine.
9. Easter Island
Easter Island is the most isolated island on earth and the world famous monolithic statues known as Moai were located here. These statues were carved between 1250 AD and 1500 AD by the Polynesian colonizers of the island. The carvings acted as a representation of the deceased ancestors and were also regarded as a tangible and visible form of the former chiefs. The tallest of the statues that was 33ft and weighed 75 tonnes was named Paro. Most of these statues were destroyed during the clan’s conflicts but when the Europeans first visited the Island, they were still standing. Currently, about 50 moai have been re-erected.

Taj Mahal was built between 1632 and 1653 by instructions of Shah Jahan (Mughal emperor) in memory of his wife. It is one of the most beautiful and well preserved tombs in the world called “a teardrop on the cheek of eternity” It features complex and beautiful structures like the pools, flowering trees and bushes, ornamental gardens and importantly the white domed marble mausoleum.
The construction of the Colosseum was started by emperor of the Flavian dynasty by the name Vespasian in 72 AD and the construction was done by his son later in 80AD. Colosseum is the most famous and the largest amphitheater built in the world. It has not less than 80 entrances and could hold 50,000 spectators who were protected from the rain and the sun by “velarium”. It is the most popular tourist attraction in the Roman Empire and one of the most known in the whole world.
Located in Cambodia, Angkor is one of the largest and most attractive religious temples in the world. It was built by king Khmer from the 9th to the 15th century AD. This temple belonged to the Hindus but is currently used by the Buddhist. Angkor Wat spreads for about 400 square kilometers and is entirely built by use of sandstones. It has nice carvings of heavenly nymphs on the walls and large scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata in inner parts of the walls. It appears on the Cambodia’s flag being a symbol of Cambodia and is the major tourist attraction of the country.
Teotihuacan is one of the greatest man made wonders found in Mexico. The amazing pyramid of the sun was built in the 2nd Century BC around 100 AD and is 75 meters high. The construction of the pyramid of the moon (smaller) started a century later and got completed by 450 AD. Seven centuries later, thy pyramids were honored and used as a religious expedition.

Great pyramid of Giza was built during the time of 2589BC and 2504BC for pharaohs Khufu. Its height is 146 meters and it is the largest and oldest pyramid in the world. This amazing feature was constructed using 2,300,000 stones that weigh up to 50 tons. The degree to which the faces of this pyramid are curved exactly matches the radius of the earth. It had three chambers, one for the king, the queen and one chamber which was not complete.
